JAMIE JENSEN has been immersed in road trip culture from an early age, thanks to a childhood spent drinking drive-in milk shakes and riding roller coasters in Los Angeles -- before they tore everything down. After a three-year stint hitchhiking around the country, making hay in Kansas, sailing boats on the Chesapeake Bay, painting houses in Boston, and living in the storeroom of a Manhattan music studio, he returned to California and earned a degree in Architecture from UC Berkeley, and then moved to England, where he began writing about America.
