The Watch: Hand Work Versus Machinery
Hardcover - English

This late-nineteenth-century essay by a master craftsman compares the methods of making timepieces by hand or by machine and explains the merits and deficiencies of each.

Marking time-time flies-time stands still. To most of us, either you have too much or not enough. To Henry F. Piaget, crafting a watch to precisely measure time's passage was his life's work.

As a native of Switzerland and an American citizen, this expert craftsman felt uniquely positioned to weigh in on the merits and deficiencies of American mass-produced timepieces and Swiss hand crafted ones. He offers his professional and unbiased insight in The Watch: Hand Work Versus Machinery.
